JACQUARD LOOM

2012-ART/INSTALLATION Around 1800, JM Jacquard invented a loom that was automatically controlled by punched paper cards. The Loom was used to weave intrincate figurative images, including Jacquard´s portrait. Thus, a programmed machine was already synthesizing images. That somehow it was the first vestige of computational machinery that is known.

The idea arise in this point where computation and image converge, suggesting a new paradigma in this space-time relation. Using the Jacquard´s loom to weave the most popular messages in the Graphic User Interface history. Screenshots from different operation systems like Commodore Amiga, Apple, Linux or Windows, Finalizing with Warhol´s images done in 1985 using Commodore Amiga.
